Guides & FAQs
From the first design conversation through to installation and aftercare, every Farmstead Living kitchen is created around the individual project. Here are answers to some of the questions we are most often asked.
Materials & Craft
Our kitchens are constructed using premium materials selected specifically for outdoor performance and longevity. Our signature construction combines 316-grade stainless steel, quarter-sawn oak and carefully selected natural or sintered stone worktops.
316 stainless steel offers excellent corrosion resistance and is particularly well suited to demanding outdoor environments. It provides the structural foundation of our kitchens while maintaining a refined, architectural appearance.
We use carefully selected quarter-sawn oak for our timber detailing. Its distinctive grain, stability and natural character complement the precision of the stainless steel framework.
Yes. Natural timber will naturally evolve as it is exposed to its environment, and we consider this part of the character and beauty of the material rather than something to be avoided. To help preserve the natural beauty and rich colour of the oak, we treat it with both a high-quality wood preserver and a UV-protective oil. With appropriate care and maintenance, the oak will develop a beautiful, natural patina over time while retaining its warmth and character.
We can specify a range of premium worktop materials depending on the requirements of the project, including natural granite and high-performance sintered surfaces. The final choice considers aesthetics, durability, UV exposure, maintenance and the wider architectural setting.
Yes. We are happy to discuss specific stones, colours and finishes as part of the design process. We can source materials to complement the architecture and wider landscape scheme.

Performance & Intergration
Our kitchens can accommodate a range of premium outdoor appliances, including Big Green Egg cooking systems, integrated refrigeration, sinks and other specialist equipment.
Yes. Our dedicated Green Egg unit is designed to integrate the cooking system into the kitchen while maintaining a considered and cohesive appearance.
Yes. We can integrate premium outdoor refrigeration such as Blastcool refrigeration into the kitchen design, subject to the requirements of the individual project.
Yes. Sink units can be designed into the kitchen, with plumbing requirements considered during the design and installation process.
Yes. Our collection includes a variety of storage configurations, from large drawers and cupboards to dedicated waste and appliance units. Additional bespoke storage solutions can also be considered where required.

From Workshop to Home
Farmstead Living kitchens are designed and manufactured in the UK, with delivery and installation available throughout the UK. International projects are also be considered on an individual basis.
Every Farmstead Living kitchen is designed and crafted in our Hertfordhsire UK workshop. Components are fabricated, finished and assembled with close attention to detail before being prepared for installation.
Lead times vary depending on the size, specification and complexity of each project. On average, our kitchens take approximately six weeks to build, with larger or more complex installations requiring a little longer. Your anticipated programme and delivery timeframe will be discussed and agreed during the design and quotation process.
Where practical, each kitchen is pre-assembled in our workshop, allowing us to carry out meticulous quality checks before delivery. This reduces installation time on site, minimises disruption and ensures a precise, seamless finish.
Yes. Our installation service is an integral part of the Farmstead Living experience. Our team delivers and installs the kitchen, ensuring that the finished installation reflects the design developed during the earlier stages of the project.
Requirements vary from project to project. Foundations or suitable surfaces, electrical supplies, plumbing, drainage and appliance connections may need to be prepared in advance. We will identify these requirements during the design process so that everything is coordinated before installation.
Yes. We regularly work alongside other professionals involved in a project. Early coordination can help ensure that the kitchen, landscaping, architecture and services come together seamlessly.

Investment & Aftercare
Our bespoke outdoor kitchens typically range from £25,000 to £75,000+, depending on the size, materials, worktops, appliances and installation requirements.Every kitchen is individually designed and priced according to the project.
Because every Farmstead Living kitchen is bespoke and involves a considered design and installation process, we focus on substantial outdoor kitchen projects. We will be happy to discuss your requirements during an initial conversation.
Depending on the specification, your quotation can include design, bespoke manufacture, worktops, appliances, delivery and installation. Every element is clearly detailed within your individual proposal.
The first step is simply to get in touch. We will discuss your space, requirements and aspirations before establishing whether Farmstead Living is the right fit for your project.
Yes. We begin by understanding the project rather than selecting products. Your space, lifestyle, architecture and intended use all inform the design before we develop the finer details.
The materials we use are selected for outdoor performance and longevity, but regular care will help preserve their appearance. We provide guidance specific to the materials and finishes used within your kitchen, alongside our dedicated Aftercare Programme, available with your purchase for complete peace of mind. As part of the programme, we return annually to re-oil the oak, inspect the kitchen and ensure runners, hardware and moving components continue to perform flawlessly.
Our aftercare service is available should you require assistance following installation. Where replacement components or repairs are required, we can assess the issue and advise on the appropriate solution.
